This past Saturday night, The Spazmatics delivered an electrifying performance at The Floridian Social in St. Petersburg, transporting the audience back to the vibrant 1980s. From the moment the doors opened at 6:30 PM, the venue buzzed with anticipation. By the time the band took the stage at 7:30 PM, the crowd was primed for a night of nostalgic revelry.

Dressed in their signature 80s attire, helmet, neck brace, and thick-rimmed glasses—The Spazmatics not only looked the part but also delivered outstanding musicianship. Their setlist was a hit parade of 80s classics, each song executed with energy and precision. The band’s dynamic performance had the audience dancing and singing along, creating an atmosphere of pure joy and nostalgia.

Some of my favorite songs from the evening were their 80’s medley, followed by “Here She Comes” by Bonne Tyler, “Whip It” by Devo, and I won’t forget Stuart’s (the bassist) falsetto version of “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Cindi Lauper. That last one had me simultaneously impressed, and in stitches.

The Floridian Social, with its Art Deco charm, provided a great backdrop for the evening. The staff, bartenders and servers managed the high capacity crowd efficiently, ensuring that everyone had a memorable experience. The combination of The Spazmatics’ high-energy show and the venue’s ambiance made for an unforgettable night that left attendees eagerly anticipating The Spazmatics next show.
