The Smuggler – for Jobsite Theater

Working with Jobsite Theater is always a great creative experience, and photographing the promo shots for The Smuggler was no exception. The one-man play, preformed by Giles Davies, dives deep into the psyche of an undocumented Irish immigrant navigating the shadows of the American dream. It’s gritty, lyrical, and layered with tension—exactly the kind of challenge I love capturing through the lens.

The concept was all about isolation and edge. We played with shadows, and body language to mirror the show’s moody atmosphere. Each sequence aimed to reflect the internal conflict and poetic intensity of the script. It wasn’t just about getting a good portrait—it was about visually hinting at the themes of secrecy, identity, and survival that run through the show.

I’m always grateful to collaborate with Jobsite Theater, whose trust in my vision allows us to create striking, story-driven imagery. Projects like this are a reminder of how powerful a single performance—and a single image—can be.
