Shear Madness at the Straz Center is a hilarious whodunit that’s equal parts murder mystery and improv comedy—definitely not your average night at the theater! The show is set in a Tampa hair salon (complete with local references that had the crowd cracking up) and invites the audience to join in as amateur sleuths, piecing together the mystery of who killed Isabel Czerny. The script is peppered with witty one-liners and tons of local flavor, and the cast’s quick improvisation keeps everyone on their toes.

Photographing this production was a total blast. From the brightly colored set to the larger-than-life personalities of the hair salon staff, every scene was vibrant and full of energy. I loved capturing the audience’s reactions—especially when the actors turned the tables and pulled the audience into the story. There’s something so fun about shooting a show where no two performances are exactly the same!

If you’re in the mood for something lighthearted and interactive, Shear Madness is a perfect night out. It’s a unique blend of classic theater and Tampa in-jokes that really comes alive onstage.
